Just a quick note to thank everyone for visiting Headliners News the last few months. It may have only been two months but site progress is slowly happening. Congratulations to Leona Lewis who was voted, by YOU, as this months "Headliner Of The Month". Stay tuned for June's vote.

The posts this week may be a little slow, due to me starting a new job, but please bare with me as I'm still posting and will be back to normal by the end of the week. Also news has been a bit sloe due to not much happening in the world of 'Entertainment'.

Idols Stage Dad Banned From Idol

TMZ has reported than American Idol top 3 contestant David Archuleta's father, Jeff, has been banned from American Idol. After complaints that the contestant's dad was interfering with the shows producers, musicians and other Idol contestants. He is now being labelled as the 'stage dad from hell'.

DMX Arrested Again

US Rapper DMX was arrested again on drug and animal cruelty charges after an early-morning raid on his Phoenix home yesterday, Reuters reports.

The 37 year old whose real name is Earl Simmons initially tried to barricade himself in the bedroom when a SWAT team entered his house at 3am. The arrest is the second in a week for DMX who was taken into custody on Tuesday on a car related charge for speeding.

Winehouse Arrested - Again!

Grammy Award-winning soul singer Amy Winehouse was arrested on Wednesday in london on suspicion of drug offenses and held after she turned herself in at a police station. The 24 year old diva was released less than two weeks ago with a caution after accusations of assault. The police are currently declining to give further details.

I hope she can clean her act up, and quickly.

The Journey Ends For Jason Castro

The dreadlocked singer, Jason Castro, from American Idol has been eliminated as predicted. The show is now left with only 3 singers, Syesha, David Cook and David Archuleta. In my opinion it's still a David Vs. David finale but I'd like to see Syesha go further.

Duff Searches For Next Broadway Star

Actress Haylie duff will host a new MTV show to search for talent for an upcoming Broadway musical. The show 'Legally Blonde: The Musical' is an adaptation of the film that made Resse Witherspoon a household name. The show titled 'Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search For Elle Woods' premieres on the network in June and the winner will get her name in lights and star in the New York production.

Duff will also be executive producer and admits she won't be eliminating or judging any of the contestants saying "... I'm always auditioning for things so I see them [contestants] as my peers. They're wonderful talented girls and they're already professionals".

UK soul singer Amy Winehouse's work on a possible James Bond theme song has been abandoned due to the singer 'not being ready to make music' says long-time collaborator and UK producer Mark Ronson.

Although Winehouse's spokesman said the decision was taken because she has "other ideas" about how the song should be developed.

It's a great shame that this hasn't come to anything I think a Winehouse track on the latest Bond flick would have work wonders for the film franchise and for the troubled singer.

Academy Award Winning actress Nicole Kidman is set to play 60's English soul singer Dusty Springfield in a new movie. The film according to Daily Mail UK is based around Springfield's rise to fame, her battle with drinking and drugs and her bisexual affairs.

Screenwriter Michael Cunningham is at the helm again (he wrote The Hours in which Nicole received her Oscar from). 59-year old Springfield died of breast cancer in 1999. It was rumored that Kate Winslett was offered the role first but after a scheduling conflict Nicole is now seriously being considered. Filming wouldn't commence until Nicole gives birth to her baby.

Actress/singer Lindsay Lohan is set to join the season finale of 'Ugly Betty'.

ABC is wanting Lohan to help Ugly Betty's rating much like Britney did for 'How I Met Your Mother'. According to the TV Guide the show's rating have dropped dramatically since the writers strike ended.

With her album well underway and her appearance in UB coming, it seems Lindsay is finally getting her career back.

The New York Post is now reporting that singer Mariah Carey and small-screen actor Nick Cannon got married last Wednesday. They are also reporting that there was no pre-nup. The small ceremony was apparently attended by only a few including Carey's close rapper-pal Da-Brat.

Access Hollywood is reporting that 'Bye Bye' singer Mariah Carey is engaged to short-term boyfriend Nick Cannon. The actor is set to appear in two new Mariah music videos in the coming months and amid reports that the singer was dating the comedian the DIVA has been seen out showing a ring on her wedding finger.

Mariah is 38 years old and Cannon is only 27.

It has been reported now that Nick has given Mariah Carey the ring that his previous fiancee, Victoria's Secret Model, was given by the actor.

Lord Of The Rings actor Sir Ian McKellen has confirmed he will be reprising his role as Gandfalf in the new film adaptations of JRR Tolkein's 'The Hobbit'. Currently set for two films.

The first film, according to PerezHilton, is to be released 2010 and the second film in 2011. The first one being the original prequel and the second will be an original story which will focus on the 60 years between the book and the beginning of the LOTR trilogy.

'Break The Ice' singer Britney Spears has confirmed she will appear on the sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' one more time.

The star has signed a deal to star in an episode to air in America on May 12th. The episode is said to have begun production today.

Spears is going to be playing her previous character of Abbey. The show's executive producer and co-creator Craig Thomas said "We're all so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again." When Spears made her first guest appearance it helped the show reach its highest ratings.

Miley Cyrus has been at the centre of controversy this week. With her "risky" cover photo appearance on Vanity Fair. The Disney star came under attack by the public, media and fellow celebrities insisting that her parents and management are to blame for her unusual photos. The photos display Cyrus showing a lot of skin in a raunchy shoot. The 15 year old star is believed to have been 'used' by photographer Annie Leibovitz for publicity.

However celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz has leapt to the 'Hannah Montana' stars defense saying the snaps are "simple" and "beautiful". Cyrus is due to apologise, claiming she was manipulated into posing for the pictures. The photos were condemned by Disney Channel bosses who accused the publication of creating a situation to deliberately manipulate the 15 year old to sell magazines.

Disney sensation Miley Cyrus is now officially the richest child in the world. The actress/singer is reportedly set to be a billionaire by the end of the year.

In 2007 Cyrus raked in $18 million alone. The 15 year old has made her fortune, of course, from her Hannah Montana franchise estimated to be worth $1 billion by 2009.

Miley's mother Leticia said "a lot of it goes into her investment fund, which she can't touch until she's 18." Cyrus has also recently announced she has signed a seven-figure deal with the Disney Book Group to write her own autobiography, to be released in the Spring of 2009.

King Of Pop Back In Studio

The New York Post is reporting that the 'King Of Pop' Michael Jackson is indeed back in the recording studio prepping his upcoming LP. And this time it's business!

After not having heard much from the hitmaker since his 25th anniversary re-release of "Thriller" and his financial troubles with his Never-Land ranch, which is now to stay in the hands of Jackson, this piece has surfaced.

MJ has hired music producers Akon and RedOne to mastermind his new album. The trio began working together at the Palms recording studio in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

N.Y.P writes that their spy said "Michael is producing the album himself and then will sell it to a record company when he's finished.

To keep his mind on the project Jackson has even banned his kids from the studio. And also the report claims that "Jackson has even sworn off woman, for the time being".

This is fantastic news to all Michael Jackson fans, a welcome update on the album. Personally I was getting worried that Will.i.am was having too much control over the project with his nonsense talk of releasing 100 songs via the Internet. I think he should put all his energy into his solo work, which is vaporising fast. Also isn't that comment about Jackson staying away from woman the most bizarre reference you've ever heard about Jackson????

Amy Winehouse Arrested

UK 'Rehab' soul songstress Amy Winehouse was arrested on suspicion of assault last Friday. This followed reports the Grammy Award Winner scuffled with two men during a wild night out.

The 24 year old rehab victim had to cancel concerts due to being at a central London police station to answer questions relating to the alleged incident.

Police haven't confirmed if Winehouse is in custody or not.

In other AMY news the singer has just been named in the top ten list of young earners. The singer took home a whopping $10 million dollars last year.

Also Miss Winehouse was no where to be seen at hubby Blake Fielder-Civil's court hearing this week. Now reports are flooding the net and mags that the couples relationship is almost over.

Guillermo del Toro To Direct 'The Hobbit'

Writer and director of six times nominated academy award film 'Pan's Labyrinth' Guillermo del Toro is to direct 'The hobbit' and it's sequel. The 43 year old filmmaker will move to New Zealand for four years to make the films back to back in the same tradition 'Lord Of The Rings' was made.

Oscar winner and movie legend Peter Jackson will executive produce. "I am indeed blessed to become a part of the filmmaking community that Peter, Fran and their extraordinary team of collaborators have created in New Zealand' del Toro said in a statement.

Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years in Prison

'Blade Trilogy' actor Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion. Snipe's judge hasn't ordered the sentence for immediate action, instead ruling that he 'surrender' at a later late in his hometown New Jersey.

The government claimed Snipes owed $2.7 million. The actor was given the maximum penalty. Fellow actors Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson wrote letters in his defense to appeal for leniency reports TMZ. Turns out that didn't help much!

Another one bites the dust. At least this time it's a not a young Hollywood lass and her alcohol problems.

Tom Cruise To Return To 'Oprah' Show

A few years after Tom's outrageous and much hyped appearance on the Oprah show. He is set to return. Perez Hilton is reporting that Oprah's film crew have been filming Tom at his house. It's rumored that Mr Cruise will be on to promote his upcoming WWII flick 'Valkyrie', directed by Bryan Singer.

Let's hope this time Katie and Suri don't get pulled onto the show and/or that any couches are harmed in the process lol.

Despite the much hyped "#3" position Mariah Carey 'only' got on the UK Charts her American fan base haven't let the 'Bye Bye' singer down.

Mimi's current album 'E=MC2' has, as predicted, landed on Billboards #1 album spot. The Diva sold 463, 000 copies in its first week. 59, 000 more than her last effort 'The Emancipation Of Mimi'. 'E=MC2' is Mariah's highest first week sales of her career. She's at the top of her game, knocking out Leona Lewis from the top spot.

Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Madonna now, each, have had 6 albums land in the #1 spot. Barbara Streisand claims tops spot with her 8 number one albums.

OK so she needs no introduction at all. But Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson is going to reinvent herself this May as a singer. The blonde bombshell has recorded an album called "Anywhere I Lay My Head" The first single "Falling Down" is going to be released shortly accompanied with a video. Check out the audio below from a fan-made YouTube vid.

I'm on the fence with the song, although I'll reserve my judgement until the full album drops on May 20th.

Britney Spears Updates

Although reports had been suggesting that Ms Spears would be 'How I Met Your Mother' it seems in a Diva-Like-Turn Brit Brit has decided to hold off signing an dotted line until she sees the script. US is reporting that nothing is confirmed and no decisions have been made until the pop tartlet sees a script she likes.

Hmmm interesting I don't think she's in a position to be too picky?

In other news Brit has been busy training with a vocal coach and been going hard in the gym with mum Lyn. Although those close to Brit say she's not planning on touring just yet it's just to keep her busy! It was also reported this week that Britney's next single 'Radar' one of the better songs on 'Blackout' in my opinion is to be directed by the star in her 'own' music video. The song will be released in July.

Jordin Sparks Silenced

Current American Idol Jordin Sparks April touring dates have all been cancelled for the 'No Air' singer due to her voice needing some rest. The 18 year old is currently under doctors care. Sparks is expected to join Alicia Keys & Ne-Yo on tour during the start of May.

"Jordin is on a vocal rest and is expected to make a full recovery" says 19/Jive Records. Further reports including one from TMZ are reporting that the singer has "acute vocal chord hemorrhage". Spark's reps insist the singer will be back!

The couple were being driven to their hotel in an SUV at 10pm when 64-year-old Lucille Gatchell hit them. Gatchell was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. No body was injured during the accident. Bullock was there filming her new romantic comedy "The Proposal"

Britney To Return To Small Screen

People are reporting that pop star Britney Spears is set to return to the small screen again in 'How I Met Your Mother' after Spear's performance as Abby last month set the sitcoms rating through the roof producers want her to return.

A source told the gossip mag "it was a mutual decision to work together more". Although Fox Studios wont comment yet, it's said that Spears will appear for one more episode.

Prison Break Extended For Forth Season

Currently on hiatus due to the writers strike Prison Break has been given a greenlight for a forth season. The current season (3) has halted at episode 13 and is set to continue it's 22 episode season run in September in the U.S. With the forth season to begin in November of this year.

I'm highly surprised by this as creator Paul Scheuring previously stated that in no way shape or form the the series have enough bite and storylines to continue past the third season. I think season 3 has taken a while to get off the ground. No word yet on the storlines or main plot. I'm assuming the forth season will be still getting out of Panama or even worse a whole new scenario for the Prison Break lads.

Fox Confirms 'X-Files' New Movie Title

A decade after the first "X-Files" movie the sequal has today been given an official title by mega-studio 20th Century Fox. The new film is to be titled 'X-Files: Do You Believe?'.

The Chris Carter cult TV show's original film grossed more than $189.2 million at the worldwide box office. The new film will be released July 25th. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will re-team to play iconic characters Mulder and Dana Scully.

Carter is directing from a script he co-wrote with Frank Spotnitz.

Cynthia Nixon's Secret Breast Cancer Battle

'Sex And The City Movie' actress Cynthia Nixon has spoken out for the first time about her secret battle with breast cancer two years ago.

The actress told 'Good Morning America' on Tuesday that she had a lumpectomy followed by six and a half weeks of radiation.

Nixon kept her condition a secret scheduling her surgery on a Sunday to avoid missing her performances on off-broadway play "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie"

"I Didn't really want to make it public, while I was going through it. I didn't want the paps at the hospital" she told GMA. She also admitted she was "scared".

It's a brave thing for her to come out now and talk about it, I'm sure it will help others who are dealing with it to talk about it. I'm also sure girlfriend of four years Christina Marinoni was there to help her through it.

Leona Lewis To Break Records?

U.K's 'Better In Time' singer Leona Lewis is set to break a record this week. If her debut album 'Spirit' reaches number 1 on the billboard albums chart she will be the first British female artist to ever debut an album at the number 1 spot in US charts. Producers Clive Davis and Simon Cowell will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Congrats to the singer. Her single 'Bleeding Love' was the first number 1 single from a British singer/act since 1987's 'You Keep Me Hanging On' cover of the Supremes by Kim Wilde.

It's thought that 'Spirit' has sold 205, 000 copies the most from a female artist since Carrie Underwood's 2005 release of 'Some Hearts' which sold 314, 500 copies in it's first week.

Rob Lowe Sued For Sexual Harassment By Nanny

Brothers & Sisters actor Rob Lowe is being sued for sexual harassment by his former nanny. Nanny, Jessica Gibson 24, is claiming Lowe exposed himself and 'touched' her in an inappropriate manner. Gibson worked for Rob and his wife Sheryl over a seven year period.

On Rob's side he is claiming the nanny told the Lowe family if they didn't pay her $1.5 million dollars she would take "false" claims to the courts.

'Soul singer' Estelle and our last week's 'Introducing Artist' Duffy have topped the U.K charts. Estelle's new single 'American Boy' featuring rapper Kanye West off her album 'Shine' is for the third week in a row the number one single. Duffy's debut album 'Rockferry' has again reached the number one album spot. The interesting point here is that Estelle spoke out against Duffy saying "You can't tell me that you can redefine soul music as Duffy and Adele because I didn't grow up (with it) and I don't identify with it". Duffy recently responded with MTV UK saying "I don't wanna stand as a definition of soul music and I don't think I ever will but there is influence of that in my music". Congrats to both, I felt they both deserve success.

Ida Corr is a Danish singer who is currently mostly known for her club hit 'Let Me Think About It', which she wrote. The song features Dutch DJ Freddie Le Grand. The song is currently being released all over Europe and is reaching the top of the charts in the pacific. It's also the best selling single outside of Denmark for a Danish singer since the bands Aqua and Infernal. Her latest single 'Ride My Tempo' is set to be released along with 'Let Me Think Me Think About It' on her debut album 'One'. She is also in a band called Sugarush who are also set to release an album later in the year.

Some slow news this week. So this weeks 'Video Of The Week' is yet another one of my favourites from the vault. The video premiered a day after Christina Aguilera gave birth to her son Max. The song 'Save Me From Myself' which is off her 'Back To Basics' album was first shown on her official website for her fans to download. The video is nothing spectacular it shows Christina singing in an empty room, with actual footage from her wedding. The song itself is amazing and it's one of Christina's top vocal performances, nothing over the top. What do you think?
